SUBJ: State Water Policy Task Force
The Chamber's Legislative Policy Council has asked that a Chamber Water Policy
Task Force be formed to examine the key issues surrounding water use, water supply,
and water supply planning in the state and to propose specific policy
recommendations that will go to the Chamber Board of Directors as one of the
Chamber's key legislative priorities for the 1997 session.
The task force's work will commence in November and end by January 1, 1997. I am
asking you to participate on this important task force because I know that you and
your business share concerns about the state's current water policies and practices.
The task force will conduct its business by conference call and through faxes. In
addition, there may be a single meeting of the group at a central location in the state
prior to the final recommendations being completed.
I am asking key industry leaders from around the state, such as yourself, to
participate on this task force. However, if you cannot participate yourself, please
designate one of your key staff people .towork with us on this issue so that the views
of your business are represented. I urge you to participate with the Chamber on this
task force. Please fax back your response today. If you have any questions, please
call me or George Johnson at the Chamber at (904) 425-1216 or 1-800-940-4879.
