Re: Tampa Bypass Canal (C-135)

Dear Mr. Watson:
We are proceeding with preparation of plans and specifications for
Canal 135, Sec. 3B, 4A, Canal 136, and Structure 162. If funding
permits and all rights-of-way and easementshave been furnished, we
will advertise this work on 15 November 1974. It is our intent to
execute this work in two construction contracts. One will include
Structure 162 and that part of Canal 135, Sec. 3B,between Buffalo Ave.
and Interstate 4. The other contract will include the remainder of
Canal 135, 3B, Canal 135, 4A, and Canal 136. A plug will be left in
Canal 136 for the U. S. 301 Bridge and another from a point east of
Structure 161 to the west right-of-way of Harney Road.
In accordance with previous understandings among SWFWMD, SCL RR,
an the Corps, we are planning to place approximately 1.1 million
cus yards of material on railroad property within Disposal Area "T".
O We.will place debris from the clearing and grubbing operation on
UL SWERMD property (Riga Tract) and cover it with three feet of fill.

Lj Approximately 1.6 million cubic yards from Canal 135, Sec. 3B, north
iC of -T4 will be placed in Disposal Area "B" (Lovelace Property).
Excavation from Canal 135, Sec. 4A will be placed within the
right-of-way adjacent to this reach of the canal. Excavation from
Canal 136 will be placed in disposal areas continuous and adjacent
to canal right-of-way.
If there is any reason why the above-stated plans cannot be carried
out, this office should be advised immediately.

Plans and specifications for both contracts will be issued for 30-day
review on 15 October 1974. So that the review plans and specifications
will accurately show the right-of-way, haul routes, and easements, and
properly reflect all agreements, certified land maps, documents, and
agreements must be furnished by 15 September 1974.
