Honorable D. R. Matthes
House of Representatives
Congress of the United States
Washington, D. C.
I had what I considered a profitable conference with Mr. Abell,
and he promises to make further investigations of the situation here
despiLe the fact that it would not be the normal inclination of the
Pest Office Departwent to even consider a request of this kind where
so little time was involved.
I am deeply indebted to you for getting this matter moving;
there is even a bare chance that we might suoeed.
I'll look forward to seeing you on May 9J thanks again for
all the help you are giving us.
c H, E. Wolfe Cordial
Earle i, Newton
P.S. Have you heard from Saathers' office with respect to the
submission of the amendment? I have had no rep3y to the letter
which I sent, at Scott Peek's request, with respect to what would
be required to enable us to get the appropriation.
