Dear Mr. Dunham:
Your letter forwarded from my office in "Ithaca has finally reached me.
Your inquiry is both interesting and flattering. The field of early
American architectural restoration, in which I have had my modest share of
success, is still my first love and I hope it may be possible to work out some
plan of procedure which may prove mutually satisfactory. It is a fortunate
coincidence that the last major restoration with which I was connectedwas
another building of Spanish origin- La Fortaleza, the Governor's palace
at San Juan, Porto Rico, built in 1540.

Sincerely yours,
STUART MOFFETT BARNETTE
