PHILADELPHIA MUSEUM OF ART
Office of the Director September 20 1951
David R. Dunham, Esq.
Dear Mr. Dunham:
I happened to be lately in touch with tart Barnee who spoke to
me a bit about St. Augustine. While he said it was you who might eventually
be speaking to me, I hope you will forgive me if I do not await this, but
send you this line.
Stuart Barnette is not only one of the best but one of the few men
in the country who knows early American buildings. Tom Waterman died
this summer, and I know of no one other than Bamette who would be avail-
able for anything such as you may have in mind. When Waterman and
Barnette left the Park Service, the Service itself was left inadequately
staffed in this line-- with a few good men, but not enough. He is most
highly competent, experienced, presentable, diplomatic and easy to work
I don't need to say more.
