Dear X. L.:

Your good letter of December llth came just as I was
about to leave the campus for Washington and New York
to do some research for the new book on Lake Okeechobee
in the "Lakes of America" series, which Kathryn and I
are writing. By the time you get this letter, I shall
be on my way to Richmond to give the annual address
before the Virginia Historical Society.

I will send you word about possibilities for a meeting
of the Trustees. In the meantime, I hope this delay will
not seriously inconvenience you.
