Re: Lots 5-6-7, Block 13
Dear Bob:

I have made a preliminary check of the documents involved,
and I find that lots 6 and 7, and possibly part of lot 5 were
involved in litigation. It is very possible that some of these
papers will contain appraisals or descriptions of the houses
other than that found in the Quesada inventory [1790 and 1803]
for No. 112 which is apparently the one on lot 7.

a. The Escrituras that we lack, either in microfilm or photo-
stat, are contained in Library of Congress reels 168, and 170
through 173. Other references involve the following categories:

b. Miscellaneous Papers, 1784-1858, LC Reels 173 and 174

c. Civil Proceedings, 1785-1821, LC Reels 150 through 163

d. Exchequer Proceedings, 1787-1819, LC Reels 132 through 134

e. In addition to these, I believe we should have available the
Jesse Fish Account Book, which is LC Reel 146.

I have never examined any of the categories b, c, and d,
but since the litigation pertains to reclamation by the heirs
of Nicolas Ortega, the Puente owner of #101, it seems reasonable
to assume that some description will be found.

Mrs. Arana will not be working any more until after the first
of the year, and with the approaching holidays, I personally will
not have much time to devote to this assignment, but will work
with the documents and maps that we have. If you have located
the abstracts, and will loan them for a few days, it will be
helpful, in determining how much work will be necessary at the
County Clerk's office and/or the Probate Records.

Dotis C. Wiles
P.S. I do not have a copy of Jose's work
on any lots in block 13. A
