The IMA offers Agricultural Economics
and Agribusiness courses for the undergrad-
uate students and a Master of Science Prog-
ram in Agricultural Economics. The Insti-
tute also has a Graduate Assistantship
program.designed to help qualified students
pursue graduate study at Xavier Universi-
ty leading to the degree of Master of
Science with major in Agricultural Econo-
mics. The research assistants assist the
IMA staff in their research work. They
also undertake their own research project
with the guidance of the IMA staff during
the year of their studies. The research
topics they select deal with the IMA's
priority research areas and normally also
satisfy the thesis requirement of their
M.S. degree.
The research assistantship covers a
period of 12 months, renewable for ano-
ther 12 months provided the graduate as-
sistant does not obtain a grade lower
than B. It includes a fixed monthly
stipend, free tuition and fees, and
thesis support.
