GRENADA,
May ist, 1768.
MY LORD,
In addition to what I had lately the honour of writing to
Your Lordship concerning the Island of Tobago I have the
pleasure of informing you that by the preparations which
many of the purchasers are making to go and settle their
lands, there is still a nearer prospect of that Island becoming
more flourishing.
I send enclosed a list of proprietors with their places of
residence as they stood on the first of last month but must
observe that though the number of proprietors then resident
in the Island was but twenty yet as many more who are
absent, have begun their settlements and I shall, soon have
exact returns of all particulars there for Your Lordships
information.
I have the honour to be with the greatest respect,
My Lord,
Your Lordships most obedient and most
humble servant,
ROBERT MELVILL.
The Right Honourable
THE EARL OF HILLSBOROUGH.
