When traces of arsenic were found on the leaves to indicate any grove had been arsenated, samples of both leaves and fruit were submitted to our Win- ter Haven Laboratory and were analyzed for ar- senic under supervision of Geo. F. Westbrook, Jr., head chemist. Approximately 6,705 boxes of oranges and tan- gerines, that contained arsenic in violation of the law, were condemned and destroyed. C. P. DAVIS, Chief Laboratory Inspector Report Of Laboratory Division The work of the laboratory division consisted or analytical work in connection with the enforce- ment of the Arsenical Spray Law, the Citrus Proc- essing Laws, the Marking and Labelling Act for Canned Citrus, the Maturity Law, chemical inves- tigations relative to all these laws; and the prep- aration and issuance of field supplies for inspec- tors. In addition, certain cooperative work with reference to standards of identity for frost-damaged oranges was undertaken with the Federal Food Standards Committee.
