The University of Florida Stephen C. O’Connell Center has been recognized by President Reagan for its energy efficient design. The R.S. Incorporation won the energy conservation award’s program sponsored by Owens Corning Fiber Glass Corporation. The Teflon coated glass fiber fabric is stretched over the arches of the dome and it cuts down on both lighting and cooling costs. The dome was completed in 1980. Various events are shown taking place in different areas of the dome.
