AN ORDINANCE to repeal and replace the Package Tax
Ordinance, 1954.
[ 1st March, 1968.
Be it enacted by the Queen's Most Excellent Majesty, by
and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council of
Saint Vincent, and by the authority of the same as follows:-
:1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Package Tax Short title.
Ordinance, 1968.


2. In this Ordinance-
"package" shall in relation to any of the goods mentioned
in the first column of the Schedule to this Ordinance
include the quantity or amount or any part thereof
of such amount set out opposite the same in the
second column of the said Schedule.
No article shall be deemed not to be a. package by
reason only of the fact that it is not wrapped, encased
or protected by an outer protection or covering.
A "Territory" means St. Vincent.

Interpretation.












Tax on 3. Subject to the exemptions hereinafter provided, there
packages., shall be raised, levied and collected and paid into the Treasury
for the public use of this Territory a tax of fifteen cents upon
every package of goods imported and landed at any port or
place in the Territory or taken out of bond for consumption
in the Territory.
Exemptions. 4. All goods-
(1) For the time being exempt from liability to Customs
duty;
(2) The Administrator in Council may exempt on the
grounds of public interest or that the tax is burden-
some,
shall be exempt from the operation of this Ordinance.


Repeals.
No. 2 of 1954.
No. 31 of 1954.


5. The following Ordinances are hereby repealed:-
(a) The Package Tax Ordinance, 1954;
(b) The Package Tax (Amendment) Ordinance, 1954.
