S.R. & O. No. 5.-Proclamation notifying that Wednesday
the Sixteenth day of February, 1966, the "appointed
day" within the meaning, and for the purpose of Rule 2
of the Registration Rules contained in the Second Sche-
dule to the Legislative Council (Elections) Ordinance,
1951.
S.R. & O. No. 6.-The Legislative Council (Elections)
(Amendment) Rules, 1966.

WHEREAS it is provided by Rule 2 of the Registration Rules contained in
the Second Schedule to the Legislative Council (Elections) Ordinance, 1951,
(No. 13 of 1951) that the Governor may by Proclamation appoint a day called
"the appointed day" on which registration officers of electoral districts shall
commence the preparation of preliminary lists of all persons who are qualified
as electors in the polling divisions comprised in such electoral districts:

AND WHEREAS it is expedient that the preparation of the said preliminary
lists should be undertaken as soon as possible:

Now I, acting in accordance with the advice of the Executive Council, Do
THEREFORE proclaim and notify that Wednesday the Sixteenth day of February.
1966, shall be "the appointed day" within the meaning, and for the purpose of,
the said Rule, and all registration officers are hereby required to take notice and
govern themselves accordingly.

GIVEN under my hand and the Public Seal of the Colony of Sairt Vince it
at Government House in the said C olony, this Twelfth day of February.

LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL (ELECTIONS) (AMELIMENT) RUL

(Gazetted 12th February, 1966.) ",

1. Short title. These Rules may be cited as the Le uncil
(Elections) (Amendment) Rules, 1966, and shall be read as one with the
Legislative Council (Elections) Rules, 1960 (S.R. & 0. 1960, No. 35) herein-
after referred to as the principal Rules.
2. Rule 5 of principal Rules revoked and replaced. Rule 5 of the prin-
cipal Rules is hereby revoked and replaced by the following:-
"5. Remuneration to Enumerators. The Enumerators, for a house
to house canvas for the preparation of the list of electors, shall be paid
the sum of 12 per name entered in the Index Book: Provided that no
Enumerator shall be paid less than $30 in respect of his services."

3. Amendment of principal Rules. The principal Rules are hereby
amended by inserting after Rule 5 the following new Rule as Rule 5A:-
"5A. Remuneration to Scrutineers. A Scrutineer for a house to
house canvas for the preparation of the list of electors, shall be paid the
sum of 8( per name entered in the Index Book by the Enumerator to
whom he is assigned: Provided that, subject to the next following
proviso, no Scrutineer shall be paid less than $20 in respect of his services:
Provided also that a Scrutineer shall not be paid in respect of any name
entered in the Index Book if the Supervisor of Elections, acting in his
discretion, is satisfied that the Scrutineer was not in attendance during
the time or part of the time that the registration of that name was carried
out; and on any such question the decision of the Supervisor of Elections
shall be final."

Made by the Administrator in Council under Section 82 of the Legislative
Council (Elections) (Ordinance, 1951 (No. 13 of 1951) this 12th day of Feb-
ruary, 1966.
