No. 302.
WEATHER CONDITIONS.

Owing to the widespread rumours
during the last two or three days that
the hazy weather is indicative that the
Soufriere is about to erupt, Government
wish to make it known that, according
to such information as is in their hands.
the weather has nothing to do with the
Soufriere whatsoever.
Meteorological reports from Trinidad
and San Juan, Puerto Rico indicate that
the weather is a type of fog caused by
either the suspension of small dust
particles produced by an African storm
or small water particles similarly pro-
duced in suspension by a water spout

P. CEDIL LEWIS,
Supervisor of Elections.

at sea, or the after-effects of a recent
volcanic disturbance in the Cape Verde
Islands.
The weather is by no means confined
to St. Vincent, and is believed to stretch
from Trinidad in the south to north of
Guadeloule.
The Public is also reminded that as a
result of recommendations made by
Dr. A. Senn in the year 1946, a Govern-
ment observer is sent to the Soufriere
monthly in order to take air and water
temperatures, and generally to examine
the distinctive features of the crater,
so that if there was any likelihood of
an eruption, ample warning would be
received and disseminated by Govern-
ment, it is hoped, in good time to allow
of any evacuation necessary.
By Command,
BERNARD GIBBS,
Government Secretary.
