Big Bend Horticultural Laboratory Mimeo Report PEC 64-2

Climatological Report for Honticcllo, Florida

by Arthur M. Phillips1

This report summarizes the weather data taken at the former cooperative

Pecan Investigations Laboratory, Monticello, Florida during the period 1941 thro-

ugh 1963.

The daily temperature and rainfall observations for 1963, with the monthly

averages and departure from normal are listed on pages 2 through 7. Data on page

8 include monthly and annual average or normal temperature and rainfall for the

period 1921 1950 inclusive. These data also include the normals for the per-

iod 1931 to 1960 inclusive, together with the rainfall inches data for the years

1961, 1962 and 1963. Pages 9 and 10 show the rainfall data with the monthly

and annual normals for Monticello for the period 1941 1960 inclusive.

Data on page 11 show the number of hours of temperature at or below 45 de-

grees each month from October through April for period 1956-57 through 1963-64

at Monticello. This information should aid prospective deciduous fruit growers

in the selection of varieties with suitable chilling requirements for this area.

1. Official cooperative observer for the weather bureau, February 1945
through 1963.
