The DISCOVER program is your first step
in reaching your career-related goals!

The work world is diverse... Expand your
horizon through DISCOVER!

* Inentories DISCOVER uses inventories to
collect information about your interests, abilities.
and values. Your results are then integrated with
the World-of-Work Map to demonstrate how your
own interests abilities and values are related to
each other and to specific career areas Careers are
categorized within the following occupational
themes. working with data. ideas people or things

* Occupations DISCOVER allows you to
search for detailed descriptions about individual
occupations within a specific career area You can
do a focused search, looking at those careers most
closely related to the results of your inventories, or
you can broadly review all occupallons in any area.

*I major To find academic majors that prepare
you for occupations of interest DISCOVER offers
several ways to search and obtain detailed
descriptions of majors

* Schools DISCOVER lets you search for
colleges and universities by state major keyword
degree type. and characteristics It also provides
irformallon on scholarships and financial aid

* Job Search DISCOVER provides sample
resumes. cover letters. tips for inlerviewing. lot
openings. Internships and apprenticeships.

*Portfolio DISCOVER keeps track of your
results and provides you with a summary of each
section You may choose to print the summaries for
your own records andior discuss the results with a
counselor

You may access the web-based version from your
home computer or any computer with internet access.
Go to the website
http://webapps01.act.orgleDISCOVER/ and you will
see a web page that asks for a user code and
password

Enter the following User ID:

To ensure privacy, create your own password. Always
keep your user code and password handy as you will
need them to log onto the system You will now be able
to use the DISCOVER program! Don I delay...your
user code and password will expire In two months!

DISCOVER can also be accessed directly through
computers located within the Counseling Center by
appointment Students using the Counseling Center
computers will be able to access additional streamed
career information and related printed materials.

While DISCOVER can help you organize your career
information, it cannot make the decisions for you.
DISCOVER is one of the first steps in your career
exploration. You can continue with a follow up session
to discuss the meaning of your results and how they
may impact your career decision-making Contact the
