TRAINING FOR THE PUBLIC
Applications are invited from suitably quali-
fied candidates who wish to be considered for the
award of scholarships or training courses tenable
in Universities or Technical Institutions in the
United Kingdom or the Caribbean in the following
fields:-
I. GRADUATE TRAINING
Sponsored by the Ministry of Agriculture, Lands
and Co-operatives
101 science place
Agriculture, B.Sc. (to specialize in
Farm Management and Plant
Pathology) 2 places
Objectives and educational requirements: The
above scholarships are to qualify candidates for
employment in the fields indicated.
Applicants should have a minimum of 5
G.C.E. passes with 2 at 'A' level. The subjects
should include English Language, Mathematics
and related science subjects.
II. CERTIFICATE OR DIPLOMA COURSES
Sponsored by the Ministry of Agriculture, Lands
and Co-operatives
Land Surveying 2 year course lead-
ing to Inter R.I.C.S.. 1 place,
Forestry 3-year course 1 place
Sponsored by the Ministry, of Ehducation and Health
Psychiatric Nursing (3 years) 2 places
Welding Technology for a teach-
ing post at a Technical College
(3 years) 1 place
Sponsored by the Ministry of Home Affairs
For teaching at the Youth Camp
Welding Technology (3 years) 1 place
Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Techno-
logy (3 years) 1 place
Furniture Production Manage-
ment (3 years) 1 place
Objectives and educational Qualification: To
prepare candidates for employment in the fields
indicated.
Usually a minimum qualification of 4 G.C.E.
"O" level passes including English, Science and
Mathematics is required.
GENERAL CONDITIONS OF AWARD
Awards will finally be made following approval
and confirmation by the appropriate authorities
that candidates have been accepted and placements
duly made.
Applications stating full name and address,
age, standard of education, present employment,
experience and qualifications should be addressed
to the Secretary, Public Service Commission and
submitted through the Permanent Secretary of the
Ministry sponsoring the field of training for on-
ward transmission to the Commission. Applica-
tions should reach the Ministry concerned not
later than 4th June, 1971.
Awards will provide the successful candidates
with return passages, subsistence allowance grant,
tuition fees and transportation in connection with
the course. Further particulars regarding the
course of training may be obtained from the
Ministry sponsoring the training.
CI ndidatcs to whom awards are made will be
required tb sign an agreement to serve the Govern-
ment for a period of up to four years after comple-
tion of their studies.
