Rust Mite: 70% of groves infested (Norm 51%); 49% economic (Norm 29%).
Population is much above normal for June and is expected to increase to the very high
level reported in July of last year. Highest districts are North (2.25) West (1.75) South
(1.74) Central (1.35). East district continues to be very low (.56).
Texas Citrus Mite: 47% of groves infested (Norm 77%); 31% economic (Norm 56%).
Population is below normal but is increasing rapidly. It is expected to enter the
high range for a short period early in July; then diminish by month end. Highest districts
are North (1.20) East (1.00) and Central (.96).
Citrus Red Mite: 52% of groves infested (Norm 68%); 28% economic (Norm 43%).
Population is expected to enter the high range briefly at the mid-July peak. It will
continue to be below normal. Highest districts are West (1.33) and East (1.05).
Glover Scale: 84% of groves infested (Norm 86%); 15% economic (Norm 32%).
Population is in the high range but is below normal. Gradual decrease is expected
after mid-July. Highest districts are South (1.12) and North (1.08).
Purple Scale: 61% of groves infested (Norm 80%); 5% economic (Norm 13%). This scale is
below normal abundance and will continue to decrease. Highest district is North (1.00).
Chaff Scale: 51% of groves infested (Norm 72%); 1% economic (Norm 17%).
Population is below normal and in the low range. Little change is expected.
Yellow Scale: 70% of groves infested (Norm 70%); 2% economic (Norm 12%). This scale is
at low level, below normal, and decreasing. Highest district is North (.96).
Black Scale: 78% of groves infested (Norm 83%); 59% economic (Norm 62%).
Population increased rapidly and is now at the normal high level for this date.
Further increase is expected until mid-July. All districts are high: East (2.76) South
(2.27) West (1.44) East (1.38) and North (1.00).
Snow Scale: 18% of groves infested; 7% with moderate to heavy infestation. Increase is
expected.
Whitefly: 83% of groves infested; 34% economic. Population of the larval stage is near
the 18 year record high. This portends formation of much sooty mold. Highest districts
are North (1.68) East (1.59) and Central (1.09).
Mealybug: 76% of groves infested; 43% economic. Recent rapid increase has caused popula-
tion to be above normal. Further increase is anticipated. Districts vary widely: East
(2.59) South (1.89) Central (1.41) West (.71) and Nor Ti .----

For snow scale control the scalicide should be 2.5 pi ts of parathion 4 liquid (or equiva-
lent), or 1.25 pints parathion 4 plus 0.5% oil, or 5. quart alah.~ 5 liqu d (or
equivalent) or 3.0 quarts of malathion 5 plus 0.5% oil, or 325. pits'bof ethio 4 liquid
plus 0.5% oil, or 3.75 pints Trithion, or 5.0 pints (uthion 2 liquid. These re the
amounts for 500 gallons of spray. The spray must be qhop hl. allied to we all wood.
