S Agronomy Research Report AG 81-5 January 1981 UNIVERSITY OF FLORIDA INSTITUTE OF FOOD AND AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES AGRONOMY DEPARTMENT GAINESVILLE, FLORIDA 32611 198C CLIMATOLOGICAL DATA FOR GAINESVILLE, FLORIDA In this report, the monthly climatological data reports of the Agronomy Farm Weather Station, Gainesville, Florida 3 WSW, have been compiled into a single annual report. The monthly climatologica1-atA reports for all twelve months in 1980 are included. pbeT4n\ t.Gin sville was 4:30 P.M. local time. Daily climatologi aJA 6sremns at Gain sville reported on in this report are: , 1. *Air temperature in St ndard U.S.W.B. Shelt Maximum-Minimum. 2. *Soil temperature at 1 cm u under, sis aJ imum-Minimum. 3. *Precipitation with sta drS.in1 agc 4. *Pan evaporation from a ard U.S.W.B. Class A Installation. 5. *Total wind movement (miles per day) two feet above ground. 6. Minimum relative humidity from hygrothermograph adjusted to psychometric readings. 7. Photosynthetically active solar radiation expressed in Einsteins per square meter, Licor Quantum sensor. 8. Total solar radiation expressed in megajoules per square meter, Eppely pyranometer. Gainesville data are summarized monthly comparing present, previous year, and 70-year average, where available. Gainesville precipitation data are compared to monthly "normal" precipitation, which is average precipitation for Gainesville during the 30-year period, 1941 through 1970. Precipitation data are also summarized accumulatively from January 1. Additional climatological measurements are made at the Agronomy Farm Weather Station but not included in this report are: 1. Continuous record of relative humidity and air temperature from a hygrothermograph.(weekly charts). 2. Time and amount of rainfall from continuous recording rain gauge (weekly charts). Hourly rainfall data are also published in the U.S. Department of Commerce publication, "Hourly Precipitation Data - Florida." 3. *Soil temperatures at the 5, 10, 20, and 50 cm depths under grass sod. 4. Soil temepratures at 5, 10, and 20 cm depths under bare soil. Climatic observations are taken by Mr. Richard Hill. More information about the above climatological data will be furnished upon request. Prepared by F. P. Gardner, Professor. -*Official weather data for Gainesville 3 WSW are available in "Climatological Data, Florida," published by NOAA, National Climatic Center, Asheville, North Carolina.
