RE: Land Acquisition Ancillary Costs
Due to concerns expressed by several of the Governing Board members
relative to-land acquisition ancillary costs (i.e. landowner/District
attorney, appraiser, and related court costs) we have prepared the
attached breakdown of past condemnation suits which depicts the percentage
of ancillary costs in relation to the approved appraisal amount of a
particular parcel, as well as the percentage in relation to the actual
landowners award as a result of condemnation proceedings.
The breakdown includes various condemnation suits within several of the
District's projects. As you can see the percentage of ancillary costs
vary considerable from one project to the next.
