SOUTHWEST FLORIDA WATER MANAGEMENT DISTRICT

REALIGNING THE BOUNDARIES OF THE PEACE
RIVER BASIN
RESOLUTION NO.

WHEREAS, the Governing Board of the Southwest Florida Water Management

District, hereinafter called DISTRICT, was authorized under Chapter 61-691,
Laws of Florida, creating the DISTRICT to subdivide the area of the DISTRICT
into watershed basins to include major streams and their tributary streams;
and
WHEREAS, the powers, duties and functions of the DISTRICT under Chapter
61-691, Laws of Florida, were incorporated into and carried forward under the
Water Resources Act of 1972, as amended; and
WHEREAS, the District Governing Board under Section 5, Chapter 61-691,

Laws of Florida, and Section 373.0693(1), Florida Statutes, as amended by

Chapter 76-243, Laws of Florida, are empowered to designate subdistricts or
basins, and may change the boundaries of such basins except the Green Swamp
Watershed Basin or create new basins by resolution; and
WHEREAS, the area presently comprising the Ridge Basin of the Ridge and

Lower Gulf Coast Water Management District subsequently will be transferred
to and become a part of the Southwest Florida Water Management District as
provided in Section 373.069(3)(d), Florida Statutes, as amended by Chapter
76-243, Laws of Florida; and
WHEREAS, the DISTRICT has determined, based on the location and hydrologic

contribution to the surrounding area and expediency in management, that the
transferred area should become a part of the Peace River Basin at the time of
such transfer.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that at .11:59 p.m., December 31, 1976,

the boundaries of the watershed basin of the Southwest Florida Water Management
District known as Peace River Basin shall be realigned to add the area presently
comprising the Ridge Basin of the Ridge and Lower Gulf Coast Water Management
District and that thereafter the description set forth in Exhibit "A" shall
constitute the area of the Peace River Basin.

CHAIRMAN and SECRETARY of the SOUTHWEST FLORIDA WATER MANAGEMENT DISTRICT
organized and existing under and by virtue of the Laws of the State of
Florida, and having its principal office and place of business in the
City of Brooksville, Hernando County, State of Florida, and that on the
day of 1976, at a duly called and properly held
meeting of the Board of Governors of said District, at which meeting a
majority of the members of the Board of Governors were present, the
Resolution, a copy of which is attached hereto and made a part hereof, was
adopted and incorporated in the minutes of said meeting.
