Gentlemen:
The article in your August 11, 1978 issue entitled "Ridge Area
Now Part of SWFWMD" contains an incorrect statement comprising
the third paragraph. The area transferred to Southwest Florida
Water Management District on July 1, 1978 was an area formerly
within South Florida Water Management District rather than
being part of the old Ridge-Manasota Basin.
The Ridge Basin of the Ridge and Lower Gulf Coast District,
often referred to as "no man's land", became part of Southwest
Florida Water Management District some time ago. The area
which was recently transferred to SWFWMD has been in Central
and Southern Florida Flood Control District for many years.
Sincerely,
*L. M.. Blain
