Abstract: How do you access information? Think about the information needs we mapped out in class in class this week. What devices, resources, and tools do you use to find information in your daily life? Do you Google it? Text a friend? Read a book? In this assignment we would like you to create an information self-portrait as your introduction to the class. This self-portrait will take the form of a “what’s in your bag?” style editorial and will be accompanied by a short (100-250 word) introduction outlining what you have in your information toolkit.

Lab Directions Step by step directions for completing the assignment. 1. Take a self portrait photograph (with a digital camera, cell phone, or webcam) 2. Arrange the tools you use to find / access information on a surface where t hey can easily be displayed and photographed. P hotograph them! 3. P oint, etc. if y upload/ edit an image, see one of the instructors during office hours ) 4. Insert the image into a word processing program and t ype a brief explanation (100 250words) of your information toolkit 5. Submit your assignment to the course website as a single document in Word (.doc, .docx) or PDF (.pdf) format.
