- General Note:
- This session took place at the home of bandleader, singer, and cuartero Segundo Dolabaille (also Pedro Segundo Dolabaille). The performances involve a number of music and dance genres, including galerón (Venezuelan dance music), aguinaldo (Latin American folk Christmas music), Warrap, and childrens songs. The instrumentation consists of maracas, guitar(s), and cuatro (small Venezuelan guitar), except in the childrens songs, which are performed a cappella or with single-note guitar accompaniment. Both the song texts and the interviews with the performers are in Spanish and/or English.
- General Note:
- Alan Lomax: The songs were recorded at the home of Segundo Dolabaille at Lopinot between 9 p.m. and 2 a.m. The musicians also took part in the singing. The songs are mostly galeron, aguinaldo, warrap songs used by the Spanish folk for parangs and seranades on holidays, and Saturday night parties. The song session was casual and was organised in the usual customary way, i.e., one musician begins to sing and to play the cuatro, his neighbours joining him to drink liquor and assist in the singing without any formal invitation so to do.
