Mechanical, Process and IR
Posts Filled; Others Named

In sweeping changes within the upper echelons of three of its seven
departments, Lago announced the appointments of three new depart-
ment heads. Fostered by transfers and executive development assign-
ments, the May 2 announcement named G. Lewis MacNutt, Mechanical
Department superintendent; Harold V. Locker, Process Department

superintendent; and F. Clark Dono-
van, Industrial Relations Department
manager.

Mr. MacNutt’s promotion to Me-
chanical superintendent comes on the
heels of a transfer to the Fawley
(England) Refinery of Thomas V.
Malcolm, who had been acting super-
intendent. Mr. MacNutt moves from
the position of Process superinten-
dent. Promoted into that position
was Mr. Locker who is presently on
a special assignment of long range
refinery planning studies, and who
will continue this assignment until
its completion.

Coming from the Employee Rela-
tions Department of Standard Oil
Co. (N.J.) to temporarily take over
the helm of the Industrial Relations
Department is Mr. Donovan. Pre-
sently overseas advisor in New York,
Mr. Donovan's temporary assign-
ment will begin July 1, replacing J.
V. Friel. Mr. Friel will join the Em-
poyee Relations Department in New
York on an executive development
assignment and will act as an over-
seas advisor for about one year be-
ginning September 1, following his
furlough.

Further shuffles in the Mechanical
Department brought about by the
department-head change moved
George B. Mathews into the position
of Mechanical Division superinten-
dent (Storehouse, Technical, Admi-
nistration). He was promoted into
the post formerly held by G. Ernesti
who was named Mechanical Division
superintendent (Field and Craft
Coordination). This position is pre-
sently being filled by J. R. Proterra
who will continue to do so during
Mr. Ernesti’s absence.

Effective May 1, three other pro-

motions took place in the Process
Department. W. H. Norris was pro-
moted to the position of assistant
division superintendant, Catalytic
and Light ends; T. M. Binnion has
permanently been transferred to the
Process Department and promoted
to the position of assistant division
superintendent - Western Division;
L. R. Monroe was promoted to Pro-
cess foreman, Catalytic and Light
Ends.

With Mr. Binnion’s transfer to the
Process Department, B. S. Whitney
was promoted to the position of
group head A - Physical and Che-
mical Analysis in the Laboratories
Division of the Technical Service De-
partment.

Mr. MacNutt has been with the
company over 26 years. He started
as a first class helper in the Pressure
Stills in December, 1929. The new
Process superintendent has over 21
years of service. His start with Lago
came in November, 1935 in TSD as
a technical student.

Mr. Donovan is not a newcomer to
Lago or Aruba. The replacement IR
manager started his Standard Oil
Co. (N.J.) service in Aruba in April,
1938 as an apprentice operator in
Light Oils Finishing. He moved over
to Industrial Relations as a training
assistant in 1938 and later switched
to Mechanical Administration until
his transfer to New York in April,
1943. Part of Mr. Donovan's service
is with the Bayonne Refinery and
the Standard-Vacuum Oil Co.

of over 2614 years is in the Mecha-

Brazilian Football Team
To Play AVB May 8

One of Brazil’s high-flying pro-
fessional football teams will come
into Aruba next week to engage an
all-star aggregation of the Aruba
Football Bond. The Bon Successo
Football Club of Brazil will make its
only appearance in Aruba Tuesday,
May 8 at the Wilhelmina Stadium.
Game time is 8 p.m.

The Bon Successo club is made up
of many internationally known play-
ers, some of whom have competed
all over the world. In Brazil this
club ranks third in the professional
standings.

The Brazilians come into Aruba
with a string of victories and only
one set-back. That came at the
hands and feet of the Curacao all-
stars, the only team to defeat them
in their current tour of Central
American countries and the Carib-
bean. During this swing they have
defeated the best in Haiti, Colombia,
San Salvador and Costa Rica

Opposition will come from an all-
star aggregation put together by the
Aruba Football Bond, sponsors of the
May 8 game. Over 30 aspiring foot-
ballers are presently working out.
The team will be selected from this
group.

Mechanical, Process and IR
Posts Filled; Others Named

In sweeping changes within the upper echelons of three of its seven
departments, Lago announced the appointments of three new depart-
ment heads. Fostered by transfers and executive development assign-
ments, the May 2 announcement named G. Lewis MacNutt, Mechanical
Department superintendent; Harold V. Locker, Process Department

superintendent; and F. Clark Dono-
van, Industrial Relations Department
manager.

Mr. MacNutt’s promotion to Me-
chanical superintendent comes on the
heels of a transfer to the Fawley
(England) Refinery of Thomas V.
Malcolm, who had been acting super-
intendent. Mr. MacNutt moves from
the position of Process superinten-
dent. Promoted into that position
was Mr. Locker who is presently on
a special assignment of long range
refinery planning studies, and who
will continue this assignment until
its completion.

Coming from the Employee Rela-
tions Department of Standard Oil
Co. (N.J.) to temporarily take over
the helm of the Industrial Relations
Department is Mr. Donovan. Pre-
sently overseas advisor in New York,
Mr. Donovan's temporary assign-
ment will begin July 1, replacing J.
V. Friel. Mr. Friel will join the Em-
poyee Relations Department in New
York on an executive development
assignment and will act as an over-
seas advisor for about one year be-
ginning September 1, following his
furlough.

Further shuffles in the Mechanical
Department brought about by the
department-head change moved
George B. Mathews into the position
of Mechanical Division superinten-
dent (Storehouse, Technical, Admi-
nistration). He was promoted into
the post formerly held by G. Ernesti
who was named Mechanical Division
superintendent (Field and Craft
Coordination). This position is pre-
sently being filled by J. R. Proterra
who will continue to do so during
Mr. Ernesti’s absence.

Effective May 1, three other pro-

motions took place in the Process
Department. W. H. Norris was pro-
moted to the position of assistant
division superintendant, Catalytic
and Light ends; T. M. Binnion has
permanently been transferred to the
Process Department and promoted
to the position of assistant division
superintendent - Western Division;
L. R. Monroe was promoted to Pro-
cess foreman, Catalytic and Light
Ends.

With Mr. Binnion’s transfer to the
Process Department, B. S. Whitney
was promoted to the position of
group head A - Physical and Che-
mical Analysis in the Laboratories
Division of the Technical Service De-
partment.

Mr. MacNutt has been with the
company over 26 years. He started
as a first class helper in the Pressure
Stills in December, 1929. The new
Process superintendent has over 21
years of service. His start with Lago
came in November, 1935 in TSD as
a technical student.

Mr. Donovan is not a newcomer to
Lago or Aruba. The replacement IR
manager started his Standard Oil
Co. (N.J.) service in Aruba in April,
1938 as an apprentice operator in
Light Oils Finishing. He moved over
to Industrial Relations as a training
assistant in 1938 and later switched
to Mechanical Administration until
his transfer to New York in April,
1943. Part of Mr. Donovan's service
is with the Bayonne Refinery and
the Standard-Vacuum Oil Co.

of over 2614 years is in the Mecha-

Brazilian Football Team
To Play AVB May 8

One of Brazil’s high-flying pro-
fessional football teams will come
into Aruba next week to engage an
all-star aggregation of the Aruba
Football Bond. The Bon Successo
Football Club of Brazil will make its
only appearance in Aruba Tuesday,
May 8 at the Wilhelmina Stadium.
Game time is 8 p.m.

The Bon Successo club is made up
of many internationally known play-
ers, some of whom have competed
all over the world. In Brazil this
club ranks third in the professional
standings.

The Brazilians come into Aruba
with a string of victories and only
one set-back. That came at the
hands and feet of the Curacao all-
stars, the only team to defeat them
in their current tour of Central
American countries and the Carib-
bean. During this swing they have
defeated the best in Haiti, Colombia,
San Salvador and Costa Rica

Opposition will come from an all-
star aggregation put together by the
Aruba Football Bond, sponsors of the
May 8 game. Over 30 aspiring foot-
ballers are presently working out.
The team will be selected from this
group.
