Abstract: The Enid M. Baa Library of the Division of Libraries, Archives and Museums (DLAM) has acquired an extensive collection of memorial booklets since the early 1970's for U. S. Virgin Islands residents. Booklets are usually more than 10 pages long and give details of the life and family connections of the deceased.

for his many years of dedicated service to the Virgin Islands Public Television System, WTJX-
TV, Channel. 2, and, further, to name the Satellite Terminal in his honor.
WHEREAS, the Government of the Virgin Islands established the VirginIslands public
Television Sstem to initiate educational, public television for the welfare of the lpople of .:
the Virgin nds; aid
WHEES, Channel 12 recruited Albert O'Bannon PCk from Hawailwhere. among other
areas in the Pacific, he had established a most remarkable enginePrit~g areerand employed him
as the original qnd only Chief Engineer of the station; and
.EREAS j Pick, as he is affectionately known, supervised the construction and instala-
ti o ti'r al broadcasting facility, which went "on-th-air" August 29.191;and:. .
WHEREAS, Al Peck, directing his energies to keep Channel 12 in step with the reit of the
television industry, did design and supervise the construction of color production facilities.
including a color remote van; and
WHEREAS, Albert O'Bannon Peck, recognizing the difficulties that the System encountered
in serving our viewers on our sister islands of St. Croix and St. John, did design the proposed
Transdator Transmission Facilities for both islands; and
WHEREAS, Albert O'Bannon Peck supervised the construction of. and presently maintains
and operates the Channel 12 satellite R/O Terminal, in addition to the operation which has
totally revolutionized the field of Broadcasting; and
WHEREAS, Albert O. Peck instituted an on-the-job training program that is responsible for
the professional development of young local Virgin slanders in the field of electronic engineer-
NOW BE rr RESOLVED, that the Board of Directors, the Management and Staff join to-
gather to pay tribute to Albert O'Bannon Peck for his years of untiring, dedicated and unselfish
service to the Public Television System of the U.S. Virgin Islands, WTJX-TV, Channel 12.
AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that an appropriately worded plaque be affixed to the
Satellite Terminal. It is so decreed that this Satellite Station shall remain as a lasting expression
of our affection, and recognition of the inspiration that Albert O'Bannon Peck is to WTJX-TV
Channel 12, its Staff, and the Virgin Islands community as a whole.
THUS PASSED AND APPROVED by the Board of lirectotr of the Virgin Islands Public
Television System in a meeting assembled July 20, 1980, St. John. U.S. Virgin Islands.
