Abstract: A Barbados newspaper article announces that the upcoming 2004 CARIFESTA XIII will be held in Suriname, a long-awaited opportunity for that country. Its artistic director emphasizes the many "invisible links" among Caribbean nations. Rather than continue what he feels has been a habit of competition among them in the Festival, in in this CARIFESTA, he wants to highlight their unity. He also notes that the usual variety and quantity of acts should be replaced with perhaps fewer but the best artistic endeavors the region has to offer.
