and racial profiling is fundamentally wrong.
Your action was a shot heard around the state
and the nation. You clearly proclaimed that
an academic medical university will not tolerate
racial segregation. This provocative action along
with your superior administrative skills at The
University of Mississippi Medical Center launched
your career to national and international acclaim.
You did achieve wide recognition in basic research,
teaching, management and administration. The
University of Mississippi Medical Center and the
people of Mississippi are indebted to you, a person
with superior academic skills and an active sense
of racial equality and civil justice.
