FOREWORD

This is a continuing monthly issue of committee prints of Veterans' AdmIinistration, activities initiated with t he February 1972 edition, which was d esigned to fill the need of Mlembers of Congress and other interested parties for accurate and convenientl-y presented detailed information about programs administered by the Veterans' Administration.
It contains statistical information concerning Veterans' Administration activities on most of the major programs, including health care, VA dIrug dependence, VA alcohol dependence, education and training, compensation and pension, guaranteed or insured loans, and direct loans.
In addition, on a quarterly basis, tables are added to reflect the cumulative statistics for the fiscal year to (late for these programs where such information is pertinent. Also, on a periodic basis, information on the. veterans' outreach services program, the insurance program, and the Veterans' Administration expenditures, and the veterans population statistics will be included.
We believe that regular reporting of these data, will be of considerable benefit to the members of the Veterans' Affairs Committee and other interested and concerned parties.
The committee wishes to thank the Veterans' Administration for its, splendid cooperation in helping to make this material available.
VANcri IIAIITKE,
Chairman.
