The Japan Ham and Sausage Industrial Association has announced an appeal to use domestic pork and to control pork importation on a voluntary basis. The association based its announcement on the following: (1) future overproduction of domestic pork market, (2) estimated decline of domestic pork prices, (3) rise in pork prices in foreign markets. A "Voluntary" control has restricted the mlport of pork in Japan since January 1, 1980. The action by the Japan Ham and Sausage Industrial Association just extends the restriction on pork imports beyond July 31, 1980. |
