Foreign Market Developments

Kansas Beef Expo Wichita, ransas. The 3rd Annual Kansas Beef Expo will
take place on March 10-11-12, 1981 at the Kansas Coliseum in Wichita. The
Kansas State Board of Agriculture and the Kansas Livestock Association
invites interested livestock producers to attend. The Expo will feature
over 600 head of high quality purebred cattle from Kansas. Nine purebred

breed associations Angus Cnarolais, Gelbvieh, Hereford, Limousin,
Maine-Anjou, Polled Hereford, Shorthorn, and Simmental will conduct their
own purebred shows and sales during the three day event. The Expo will
provide foreign buyers an opportunity to improve their herds. The nine
breed sales will feature pureored Dulls, heifers and cow calf pairs. In
addition, there will be a trade show featuring tne latest improvements in

TEMA 81, Copenhagen. Five international trade fairs emphasizing food
products and related items will be held at the Bella Center in Copenhagen,
Denmark, April 7-11, 1981. The food products include meat and meat
products, groceries and delicatessen, dairy products, canned and frozen
foods, bread and cakes, fruit and vegetables, fish and shellfish, beer,

Jamaica import plans. The Jamaica Nutrition Holdings Ltd, subsidiary of
the State Trading Corp., has revealed tentative schedule of imports of
basic foods. JNH has, however, has not requested bids, as in most cases,

normally seeks terms of 180 days Letter of Credit:
--90,0000 mt of wheat, of which 24,000 mt will probably be procured on
commercial terms; the remainder Dy AID financed tenders. Current supply
sources, U.S. and Canada.
--203,000 mt of corn; 12o,000 tons to be procure on commercial terms, the
rest by AID financial term. Current suppliers are all in the U.S.
--Rice, 50,000 mt of wniicn 10,000 mt will probably be procured on
commerical terms. The rest will be obtain under firm contracts from
Guyana. Current commercial suppliers in the U.S. and Guyana.
--72,000 mt of soybeans, all of which will be procured on commercial
terms. Current suppliers U.S.
--6,000 mt of soybean oil, of which 3,100 mt will be on commercial.terms.
Current source of supply U.S.
--Milk solids and butter oil, 12,200 mt, all of whicn will De bought on
commercial terms. Present source of supply Canada.
--54,000 mt of counter flour; all to be procured on commercial terms.
Current sources U.S. and Western Europe.
--29,000 mt of biscuit flour, all to be procured on-commercial terms.
Present sources: U.S. Canada and France.
--7,700 mt of corned beef, all to be bought on commercial terms; present
sources: Brazil and Argentina.
--2,860 mt of pickled beef and pickled pork tails, all to be obtained on
commercial terms; current sources: U.S. Canada
--Auout 7,800 mt of frozen meats (value US$12 million), all to oe procured
on commercial terms. Current source: U.S. potential suppliers of these
