Japanese chilled and frozen tender plans. L I P C will purchase 6799.5 metric
tons of frozen beef including 900 metric tons of grainfed cuts at tender on
March 18. These cuts must have a kill date no earlier than February 1, 1980 and
must deliver by May 31, 1980. Grainfed purchasing plans include 400 metric tons
short plate, 200 metric tons strip loin, 300 metric tons skirt plates. Please
note that in addition to certification of grade and IMPS number, the yield grade
2 or 3 must be left on the fat cover of all strip loins.

Singapore food regulations. The Government of Singapore-Ministry of Environment
has stated that all mayonnaise containing food stabilizer additive Calcium
Disodium Ethylent Diamine Tetra Acetate (EDTA) must be removed from Singapore's
retail stores. Singapore's food regulations state "EDTA may be used only in
canned fish including crustaciaus at a level not exceeding 250 parts per million."
Discussion is now under way between the U.S. and Singapore on a release from this
restriction. However, until the matter is resolved, it is suggested that U.S.
exporters refrain from exporting to Singapore any mayonnaise or other food products
containing EDTA outside of those authorized by the Government of Singapore.
