APPLICABLE U.S. STANDARD SIZES Types 35 and 36 Type 37 44, 45, 44, 45, 44, 45, - 7 - REVIEW OF THE FIRE-CURED AND DARK AIR-CURED MARKETS -- 1976-77 SEASON FIRE-CURED Record high prices. Largest country sales on record. Loan Receipts only 94,000 pounds. This was one of the most unusual seasons Types 22-23 on record. The final auction total for types 22 and 23 was only 4,993,534 pounds but the average was a record $138.09 per hundred. 27,805,962 pounds average ing $143.12. The average was $35 above the 1975 crop. countryy sales were The bitter winter in January and February forced delays in delivery and hampered preparation of the crop creating one of the longest selling seasons in 30 years. At least 8 million pounds of tobacco was not delivered until April. The percentage of good and fine quality leaf on the markets was below normal levels, however, to the small percentage of tobacco actually graded and sold at auction, comparisons of the crop composition with the previous years are difficult to make. Type 21 The 1976 crop had million averaging $117 a normal selling .57 per hundred - season. Prices also rose to record levels. Volume was up $14.60 from 1975 DARK AIR-CURED Record high prices.
