RICULTURE t.1./,.S.- U r Jl" r Lf & LIMES October 12, 1982 FLORIDA AVOCADOS: The forecast of avocados for certi- fied shipments for the 1982-83 season is estimated to be 1,250,000 bushels, unchanged from the initial August forecast. If realized, this will be 28 percent more than the 977,000 bushels shipped last season and a record high crop. The fore- cast is for certified shipments as reported by the Avocado Administrative Committee from inspection certifications by the Fruit and Vegetable Inspection Division of the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. FLORIDA LIMES: The 1982-83 lime crop which began April 1, is forecast at 2,720,000 bushels, an increase from the 2,400,000 bushels forecast in April. Monthly shipments have been substantially ahead of any previous season, especially since the embargo of limes from Mexico in August. Certified shipments to date are 32 percent ahead of the previous high 1980-81 season shipments. CALIFORNIA AVOCADOS: The forecast of shipments for the 1981-82 season as reported by the California Avocado Commission is 6,215,800 bushel equivalents. Only one month remains in this marketing season. Early season projections for the 1982-83 season are for 9,000,000 bushel equivalents, very near the record high 9,520,000 bushel equivalents shipped in the 1980-81 season.
