Gentlemen:--
I am just in receipt of a letter from Mr.W.W.Ctmmer,who

is at present in Mexico, from which I quote as follows:

"I neglected to acknowledge receipt of a proposition from the
gentlemen in Fernantdina. I wish you would drop them a line,
telling them of my departure for Mexico and asking to have this
apparent discourtesy forgiven."

In this connection beg to say that Mr. Cumler left rather hurriedly

on a pleasure through Mexico and some of his personal matters were ne-

glected.

We, expect him back the latter part of next month at which time he

will doubtless take this up with you then. Trusting you will pardon

this delay in acknowledging receipt of your favor, we remain,
