Dear Bill:

Thanks so much for your wonderful letter of
December 10 and for your congratulations on my
appointment as President of NAB after my term
as Governor expires. This will indeed be a
most interesting and challenging service, and
I am looking forward to it with much anticipation.

Let me say again, Bill, how deeply I appreciate
your friendship and how much your confidence has
meant over the years. I shall be everlastingly
grateful for the many, many things you have done
to help me during these last six years.
