Dear Hoyt

I have talked to Dean Matherly and he says that he is
prepared to go to Tallahassee today* I know he will
deliver a fine speech. I an sorry the aixup ooourred.
It wmld have been better had I not sent the first te-
legramx However, I did not want to run the risk of r
last ainate fiasao.

I certainly appreeiated your invitation. It does sees
as though some untoward iaoident happens every tine I
get an invitation to speak in Tallahassee. I would have
been especially glad to address your gronp.

I particularly enjoy speaking at the present time because
of the tenseness of the international situation.

I had looked forward to having a long talk with you,
Charlie. and other friends in Tallahassee* Let me know
when you are passing through, for I should like to talk
to you.

ordially yours,

Bill Oarlton
