Schedule of Activities

Please see the grant proposal for a full schedule of activities by month. The performance objectives below are for the entire grant period, January 2009 - December 2011.

Performance Objectives

Folder review and conservation of all materials

Digitization of 99,690 pages

• Requires an average minimum of 3,323 pages per month (30 month period from April 2009 digitization start until October 2011)

Integration with the Everglades Digital Library (EDL)

• Nov. 2009: Migrated FIU and UF EDL-FEOL materials
• Oct. 2009: Loading EDL collections: Marshall, Hole-in-the-Donut, Dineen, and Educational collections
  
• Sept. 2009:
  • To enable cross-searching with the Everglades Digital Library, which is hosted on various systems, the SobekCM infrastructure was selected with EDL materials to be migrated to it for optimal interoperability, ease of use, and ongoing growth
    
  • Migrated several collections from the Everglades Digital Library to SobekCM including: EDL Founders, Tale of Two Women Everglades Oral Histories, EDL Research Collections, and EDL Educational Collections, and all are in process
• Summer 2009: PI, Co-PI, and UF IT staff met with representatives from the FIU Libraries' Digital Collections and IT Departments

Technical enhancements

• Jun. 2010: User-contributed descriptions available and may be developed into as a case study (example) and contribiuted to the Interactive Archivist
• User contributed descriptions using myUFDC.

Creation of collection home page

• Collection home page established in early 2009.
• Additional support pages will continue to evolve as the project progresses and more materials are added.

Usage statistics:

• Tracking of usage statistics for digitized materials: overall collection statistics and most popular items
• Tracking of usage statistics for on-site researcher demand

Revision of six EAD finding aids

Creation of three educational modules

• Lesson plans
• Guide to primary sources and other secondary reading materials

Creation and dissemination of documentation and description (workflow and technical specifications; journal article on methodology and outcomes and conference presentations; promotional materials with web links, press releases, presentations, brochures, etc)
