The Florida Growers and Shippers League was organized in 1923 and incorporated in 1924 as a non-profit organization to focus on matters of interest to growers and shippers of citrus, vegetables and other crops. The League had its headquarters were in Orlando and was administered by an executive committee, the members of which were elected at the annual meetings. The organization was particularly focused on subjects such as disease and pest management, interstate commerce, produce inspections, railroads and transportation, freight rates, and laws and regulations affecting their operations. The League shared many members and activities with the Florida State Horticultural Society, and the two organizations met jointly.
