The Digital Library of the Caribbean (dLOC) is a cooperative digital library for resources from and about the Caribbean and circum-Caribbean. Joining dLOC requires time and commitment, but there are no fees or costs.
Membership in dLOC is open to archives, libraries, and museums; associations, organizations, and research centers; and publishers that meet the eligibility criteria:
1. Availability of collections with Caribbean content.
2. Willingness to contribute collections and to make these freely available to the project. All rights and ownership for materials remains with the copyright owner and/or the contributing partner, only permissions for access are granted.
3. Willingness to designate a representative or representatives to manage local participation, vote within the dLOC general membership assembly, and oversee deployment of digitization technologies.
4. Willingness to comply with common standards, primarily for digitization and for copyright. (dLOC provides training manuals, training, and the dLOC technical staff are always available to answer questions and discuss concerns about digitization and copyright.)
