The Austin Cary Collection contains papers and photographs relating to forestry, naval stores, and the turpentine industry. Austin Cary was a forester and logging engineer born in Maine and educated at Bowdoin College. He was Assistant Professor of Forestry at Harvard College, 1905-1909; Superintendent of State Parks, New York, 1909-1910; and Logging Engineer, U.S. Forests Service, 1919-1935.
