 Notes
General Note: "This book was printed and bound by the Milwaukee Handicraft Project; sponsored by the Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors and the Milwaukee State Teachers College; Works Progress Administration in Wisconsin, 1938"--t.p. verso.
General Note: "...With the use of linoleum the difficulty of cutting against the grain on hard wood has been eliminated and hundreds of good prints may be pulled from a well-cut linoleum block. The young people in our junior and senior high schools all over the country have been quick to utilize this most fascinating graphic art for many purposes, but it is only in recent years that entire classes of students have pooled their resources and made their own illustrated blockprinted calendars, portfolios, and books. ... Much credit is due the W.P.A. Handicraft Project and the Milwaukee Printmakers for sponsoring the present project of utilizing a selected number of prints made by junior and senior high school students and printing these in sufficient quantity to enable schools to purchase them at only the actual cost of the materials. From 120 entries from the senior high schools a jury of artists selected 30, and from the 65 entries from the junior high schools 20 were selected. It is hoped that this project may be made an annual one and that it will secure the well-deserved support of students, teachers, principals, and superintendents everywhere!"--introduction.
General Note: English.
