RE: Executive Order on Water

In 1995, representing Symmons Industries (and I still do) I passed legislation
mandating in, new and retrofit construction, the use of anti-scald, thermal shock devices in showers,
and tubs.

Water still runs down hill, but like everything else in our lives the evolution of
technology even applies to plumbing. The anti-scald/thermal shock applies to safety like third degree
burs, and falls (that affect mostly small children, and the elderly) but I have learned there are many
other devices on the market that make significant contribution to conservation.

Examples a timed self-closing faucet that could be used in public facilities, and flow
restrictors, and many more.

Please understand that there are some thirty (give or take) plumbing manufacturers
in the country. Not all make the same products, but competition is keen and thus the market
competitive.

I am certain that the manufacturers representatives (people with the technical
knowledge) would be happy to meet with the commission.

If you have any question, please call.
