MEMORANDUM

TO: Jodi Chase

FROM: Jake Varn

RE: Water Supply Development

As you are probably aware, the Governor's Office has
initiated a process designed to identify and resolve the water
supply development and funding problems in Florida. At a recent
meeting two committees were created and included representatives
from (1) business, industry and development, (2) agriculture, (3)
local government, (4) water suppliers, (5) environmental and
citizens groups and (6) governmental agencies. The water supply
development committee has Wade Hopping and I as the
representatives of business, industry and development.

Our first task is to identify existing problems associated
with water supply development. We would like for you to provide
us with a list of any problems you or your members face in
providing a safe, dependable, sustainable and affordable water
supply. Please feel free to circulate this request to your
members or anyone else that has or foresees problems with water
supply development. We anticipate that the problems you will
bring to our attention, and which the committee will ultimately
deal with, will fall into the areas of planning, regulatory
relations or implementation.

Please provide your list of problems to Wade or me no later
than noon, Friday, October 25, 1996. Wade's fax number is (904)
224-8551 and my fax number is (904) 222-0398. Also, please let
us know if you want to participate or be kept advised of the work
and meetings of this committee. If you have questions please
call me at (904) 224-1585.
