Dear Mr. Varn:

SI am writing to update you on several matters relating to
the assembly you have been invited to on growth management at
Saddlebrook Resort next month.

First, if you have not made hotel reservations at
Saddlebrook and are planning to do so, we urge you to contact the
hotel immediately so they may accommodate you.

Second, we have made arrangements with Saddlebrook to provide
group meals for every meal except lunch on Thursday. We will be
charging a $75.00 registration fee to cover these costs which
will be paid when you register Wednesday at Saddlebrook. Observers
who wish to join the participants in the meal functions will be
charged a $100.00 registration fee. Checks should be made payable
to Saddlebrook Resort. We hope this arrangement will facilitate
an orderly flow in the conference proceedings, and provide informal
opportunities for all participants to share ideas. For those of
you who might need assistance in planning to attend under these
circumstances, arrangements can be made; please contact George
Meier at the Committee office (904/488-9055.)

Third, we will be mailing assembly participants within the
next ten days the package of discussion papers prepared for the
discussion group to which they have been assigned. I encourage
you to read these materials in advance so that your group dis-
cussion can start promptly on Wednesday afternoon, October 19.

Lastly, we have heard from some invitees that they will not
be able to attend. It would be helpful to our planning efforts
if you could confirm with our committee staff in the next
several days whether or not you will be attending the growth
management assembly at Saddlebrook.

We look forward to seeing you in October!

Sincerely,

Ray Lerti

Dear Conference Participant:

Enclosed for your information are the materials we promised
you in advance of the Saddlebrook Conference, October 19-21.

You will find a list of the participants assigned with you
to one of the six groups, which will begin meeting at 2:30 p.m.,
Wednesday. You will also find the background papers which were
written in order to stimulate the thinking of the small group
members. We encourage you to read these papers before you come
to Saddlebrook. The Conference is designed to produce the most
work in a short amount of time, and its success depends upon
your being prepared!

You will also find short summaries of all the other small
group papers. Should you desire to read any of these, they will
be available at Saddlebrook or you may contact.our office and
we will send you them.

If you have not already done so, please make your reservations
with Saddlebrook; also please let us know if your plans to attend
have changed. We look forward to seeing you at Saddlebrook.

Sincerely, S erely /
