Workshops, Public Hearing
On New Water Authority

Hillsborough County Commissionerswill hold two wrkshopsar~a
public hearing on the proposed neworganizational structure of die
WestCoast Regional WaterSupply Authority. .

Changes are being considered thatwill improve theprotection- -
of the environment by reducing the amount of water wididri '
from existingwellfields, and provide assurance offuitir water .
supply development for anticipated growth. The agreement also
calls for the members to share the costs f environmental
protection and water supply development, and should signifi-
cantly reduce the potential for law suits among authority meiie ...:
bers and regulatory agencies. ..:

Current members of the water supply authority are Hillsbor-
ough, Pasco and Pinellas Counties, and the Cities of Tampa
and St. Petersburg. Under the new agreement, the City ofNew
Port Richey will join the group.

The public is invited to attend the meetings. Comment is
welcomed at the public hearing.

Public Hearing: 4 p.m.
