SWFWMD Hiring Procedures

Yesterday Clint Schultz asked us to advise him on whete r or
not the District could pay the moving expenses of a new
employee. This would be the Ground Water fy4roloigist. i It seems
that they have located a man that they would like to hire but
this has become one of the considerations.

The Comptroller's office has issued regulations in the
of General Accounting Division Operational Proced4iesa
provide that moving expenses may be paid by state agepn
when such expenses are approved by the State Personael
and the move is for the direct and sole benefit of the

The District, not being a state agency, as such, would
be specifically governed by this since they do not sub

I advised Clint that I concurred in this position, having
been unable to find any reference to this matter by Stitute
or applicable rule or regulation and suggested that if they
felt that it was Amportant enough that these expenses e paid
they should do so only with the concurrence of the Chaarmani
of the Board and further that they seek ratification by the
fu Board at its next meeting.
