"La Posada Antigua' 43 St. George Street, almost opposite the Old Curiosity Shop, is yet another of the coquina buildings which date from the First Spanish Occupation. Unfortunately, no definite date can be assigned, but it is known that the house and lot were negotiable property in 1771. According to tradition, the dwelling was once occupied by the daughter of Sir Walter Scott. Is arched openings are typical of the stone -houses and shops that early lined St. George Street, the main street of the ancient city since its founding.
