AN ORDINANCE to save the rights of the Crown and the
Port-of-Spain Town Board in lands sold for non-pay-
ment of rates.

BE it enacted by the Governor of Trinidad and Tobago
with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council
thereof as follows:
1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Sale of lands (non- short Tme.
payment of rates) Ordinance, 1912.
2. In this Ordinance the term "Rates" includes any nterpretaton.
charge, tax, assessment or imposition.
3. Notwithstanding anything contained in any Ordinance, sfng of
present or future, authorising any public body or authority crow and

Efet and Where any land sold under or by virtue of any such
form of con- .
veaceon power as aforesaid is land held by any person as lessee or
tenant of the Crown or of the said Town Board, the con-
veyance to the purchaser under any such sale as aforesaid
shall, notwithstanding anything contained in any Ordi-
nance authorizing such sale, operate to pass to such pur-
chaser only the right title and interest of such lessee or
tenant to or in such lands, subject to such charges for any
debts or sums due to the Crown or to such public body or
authority as are specified in the Ordinance authorizing
such sale; and notwithstanding anything contained in any
such Ordinance or any form of conveyance prescribed
thereby, the conveyance to be executed in any such case by
the public body or authority exercising the power of sale
shall be expressed to be limited to the leasehold interest of
such lessee or tenant, or any person claiming under or
through him, subject to any property or interest of the
Crown or of the Port-of-Spain Town Board in such lands,
and subject also to any charges or debts to which the land
so conveyed is by the Ordinance authorizing such sale
declared to be subject.
Passed in Council this Thirtieth day of October, in the
year of Our Lord one thousand nine hundred and twelve.
