Public Works Loan.

No. 26.-1912.

6th May.

AN ORDINANCE to make provision for raising a loan for
the c:'nsitutio'n of certain public works.

BE it enacted by the Governor of Trinidad and Tobago
with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council
thereof as follows :
1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Public Works hort Title.
Loan Ordinance, 1912.
2. (1.)-The Governor is hereby authorized to issue stock Loan of
or debentures or both under the provisions of the General be aised.m
Loan and Inscribed Stock Ordinance, 1912, to an amount
sufficient to produce, as nearly as may be, the sum of
551,042, to be appropriated and applied to the purposes
specified in the Schedule hereto, and such further sum as
may be necessary to defray the expenses of issue.
(2.) It shall be lawful for the Governor, with the pre-
vious approval of a Secretary of State, to direct that any
sums which may not be required for a purpose specified in
such Schedule may be appropriated and applied to any
other purpose therein specified.

sinking Fund. 3. The contribution to the Sinking Fund as contemplated
by the provisions of Sections 13 and 27 of the General
Loan and Inscribed Stock Ordinance, 1912, shall commence
from the date of the first issue respectively of debentures or
stock under this Ordinance.
Repeal. 4. The Ordinance No. 9-1910 is hereby repealed.
Provided that references in any Ordinance to the Ordinance
No. 18-1907, to the Ordinance No. 19-1908, or to the
Ordinance No. 9-1910, shall be deemed to be references to
this Ordinance.
Payments by 5. The Port-of-Spain Town Board shall on such dates as

Ordinance repealing or amending the same, pay annually
to the Receiver-General to be carried to the credit of the
General Revenue of the Colony, such amounts as may be
fixed by the Governor to meet the charges for interest and
Sinking Fund in respect of items Nos. 2 (a), 2 (b) and 2 (c)
in the Schedule hereto.
Idem. 6. The Port-of-Spain Town Board shall on such dates as
may be fixed by the Governor, from the sewerage rates
collected under the authority of the Ordinance No. 219, or
any Ordinance repealing or amending the same, pay annually
to the Receiver-General to be carried to the credit of the
General Revenue of the Colony, such amounts as may be
fixed by the Governor to meet the charges for Interest
and Sinking Fund in respect of item No. 3 in the
Schedule hereto.
Idem. 7. The Port-of-Spain Town Board shall on such dates as
may be fixed by the Governor, from the General Revenue
of the Town, pay annually to the Receiver-General to be
carried to the credit of the General Revenue of the Colony,
such amounts as may be fixed by the Governor to meet
the charges for Interest and Sinking Fund in respect of
items Nos. 4, 5, 6, and 12, and in respect of one quarter of
each of the items Nos. 9 and 10 in the Schedule hereto.
Idem. 8. The Port-of-Spain Town Board shall on such dates
as may be fixed by the Governor, from rates to be collected
under the Belmont Improvement Rate Ordinance 1907, or

any Ordinance repealing or amending the same, pay
annually to the Receiver-General to be carried to the
credit of the General Revenue of the Colony, such amounts
as may be fixed by the Governor to meet the charges for
Interest and Sinking Fund in respect of the sum of
7,575, being one quarter of item No. 9 in the Schedule
hereto.

9. The Port-of-Spain Town Board shall on such dates Paymentsby
as may be fixed by the Governor, from the rates which iocount of

relating to the Dry River and to that part of the Town of
Port-of-Spain lying to the East of the Dry River, pay
annually to the Receiver-General to be carried to the credit
of the General Revenue of the Colony, such amounts as
may be fixed by the Governor to meet the charges for
Interest and Sinking Fund in respect of the sum of 5,000,
being one quarter of item No. 10 in the Schedule hereto.

10.-(1.) The lands and hereditaments known as Wood- Charge on
"oodbrook
brook" situate partly jn the Town of Port-of-Spain and Estate.
partly in the Ward of Mucurapo in the Island of Trinidad,
comprising 348 acres more or less, and abutting on the
North upon Tragarete Road, on lands of the Board, on the
Maraval River and on lands of Henderson and Home, on
the South upon Wrightson Road, on land acquired by the
Government for the main sewer and pumping station and
on the sea, on the East partly upon the Public Cemetery
and partly upon land of the Trinidad Electric Company
Limited and on the West upon lands of Home and on the
sea (which said lands are delineated in the plan marked
"B annexed to the Deed dated First of November, 1911,
and registered as Number 3254 of the protocol of deeds for
the year 1911) shall stand charged with the repayment to
the Colonial Government of the sum of 95,000 mentioned
in item No. 12 of the Schedule hereto; and until the repay-
ment of the said sum no portion of the said lands and
hereditaments shall be disposed of by the Town Board
for an estate of freehold or for any lease for a period
exceeding 3 years without the consent in writing of the
Governor first had and obtained.

(2) It shall be a condition of any such consent that any
sum received by the Town Board by way of purchase
money, premium or fine shall forthwith be paid over by the
Board to. the Governor for the purpose of increasing the
Sinking Fund in respect of item No. 12 in the Schedule
hereto.

Passed in Council this Sixth day of May, in the year
of Our Lord one thousand nine hundred and twelve.
